Environmental Monitoring System (EMS)- This device allows for connection of intelligent sensors to monitor the
environment itself (temperature, humidity, etc.) and contacts/relays
to receive information from plant such as A/C units, UPS's and
Generators. This combination provides the first level measurement of
key environmental factors. The LAN connection and SNMP interface
allows for SNMP traps to be sent and for provision of key MIB
variable data upon request. Units can be installed for either
room-wide or intra-rack monitoring.
SNMP Monitoring Stations - These provide a
display mechanism to interpret the traps/data and a mechanism to
alert via email/SMS etc. They can be simple single level display
dashboards or full-blown network management applications. These
products can gain information from EMS's and from Imbedded
technologies (see below)
Imbedded technologies - Certain environmental components such as
A/C's and UPS's can also be procured with their own SNMP interfaces,
which allows for more detailed information to be obtained about the
status of a unit. For example, A/C's can report on items such as
humidifer bottle status and UPS's can report on current loads etc. | | |
