| Thames Valley Police (TVP) is one of the largest
Home Office police services in England and the largest
non-metropolitan one, covering 2200 sq mi (5,700 km²) and a
population of 2.1 million. The force is responsible for the Thames
Valley area covered by the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire
and Oxfordshire. Its aim is “Working in partnership to make our
community safer” and TVP utilise IT and technology to great effect
to make that a reality.
| | | | | | END2END have worked with TVP for many years and
during that time have designed and built both their Primary and
Secondary (Disaster Recovery) Data Centres. Because of the 24 x 7,
mission critical nature of the Force and the use of IT within all
spheres of their operation, both Centres in themselves were designed
to be highly available by use of resilient and redundant components
(N+1). Together they form a truly state-of-the art integrated
facility, which ensures that TVP's IT estate is protected and its
operational effectiveness assured.
Key to the success of
all of the projects undertaken by END2END has been the strong
partnership with TVP. Working alongside TVP's IT and M&E specialists
during each phase of the Data Centre Life Cycle has been one of the
critical success factors - from initial requirements workshops right
through to the design, build and support of the live Data Centres
themselves.
And as part of a
continual improvement effort, END2END regularly audit and assess the
Data Centres to ensure that they continue to meet TVP's high
standards.
